設立25周年記念でリイシューされた82年のマドリガル録音。おまけはトムキンズのアンセム7曲で、こちらは88年のリイシュー。フロントは80年代の終わりから90年代前半のレギュラー、サリー・ダンクレー、デボラ・ロバーツ、テッサ・ボナー、ルース・ホルトンの最強ソプラノ4人による無敵の30分が展開される。
このおまけにメインのマドリガル・プロが負けてる。パート1人の構成だからというだけでなく表現的にもなんだか薄い。メンバーは下声はよく知る人たちだけど上の方は80年代初頭の混成部隊といった感じ。マーガレット・フィルポットまで参加している。まだタリス・スコラーズになり切れていないタリス・スコラーズだ。フィッシャー＋ドースン＋ヒリヤードのガチンコ勝負のような演奏はともかく、コンソート・オブ･ミュージックと比べてもアンサンブルの練りがもう一歩。惜しい。お蔵入りしていたのも仕方ないかも。
カップリングの意図は何か。隙間を埋めるためか？メインだけでも40分ある。メインだけでよかった。
